Purpose of the Job
To oversee Scholars recruitment operations, graduate education coordination, welfare support and Program monitoring and reporting with a critical focus on inclusion and safeguarding.
Qualifications
- PhD in Climate Science or Geography or Agriculture or Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Management or Agricultural Engineering or Environmental Engineering or Forestry from a recognized institution.
- A Master’s degree in Climate Science or Geography or Agriculture or Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Management or Agricultural Engineering or Environmental Engineering or Forestry from a recognized institution.
- A Postgraduate Diploma (Certificate) in Project Planning and Management.
- An Honour’s Bachelor's degree in Climate Science or Geography or Agriculture or Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Management or Agricultural Engineering or Environmental Engineering or Forestry from a recognized institution from a recognized institution.
Added advantage
A Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) from a recognized institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the selection and recruitment of Program Participants;
- Coordinate activities to facilitate teaching and learning of Graduate Scholars and Skilling Youth;
- Oversee the provision of support and welfare services to Program Participants;
- Co-ordinate continuous risk mapping and management in all the operations of the Program to ensure safe and efficient operations;
- Support in the recruitment, induction, performance management, and professional development of Program staff in collaboration with the Directorate of Human Resources;
- Facilitate preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and work plans, ensuring effective resource allocation and utilization in line with program goals;
- Manage relationships and collaborative activities with internal and external partners to strengthen program delivery, visibility, and impact;
- Oversee the Scholars’ Compliance to the rules and regulations of the University, and those specific to the Scholars Program;
Experience
A minimum of 9 years relevant working experience, 3 of which must have been at the level of Principal Program Officer in a reputable organization.
Competencies
- Experience in coordinating recruitment and selection of program participants.
- Experience in planning and implementation of donor-funded training or research programs.
- Demonstrated capacity in data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and results-based reporting.
- Proven track record in coordinating multi-stakeholder engagements.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards in student support, human resource practices, inclusion and safeguarding.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
